As a third-year law student at Tulane, Mr. Kivort taught legal research and writing to first year students after being selected as a Senior Fellow by a faculty committee. Mr. Kivort has practiced Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Commercial Litigation, and Products Liability law on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, having taken and defended hundreds of depositions in such cases. This gives him a unique perspective in the practice of Asbestos Defense Litigation and Commercial Litigation, his current concentrations with the Firm. Mr. Kivort has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 1993 and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He has also been licensed to practice law in Arkansas since 2006. Mr. Kivort has served on the National Board of the Brandeis University Alumni Association and as President of the Brandeis Alumni Club of Houston (2000 – 2006). He also volunteers for the Brandeis Alumni Admissions Council, interviewing prospective new students and attending college fairs at local high schools. Mr. Kivort is a proud native of Schenectady, New York, where he was born in 1965. He is an avid musician, traveler, and wine enthusiast. He currently resides in Houston, Texas with his wife, Patricia.
