LAWRENCE E. ABBOTT is the Managing Director of Abbott, Simses & Kuchler. He attended St. Edward's University (B.A., 1967) in Austin, Texas, and Tulane University School of Law (J.D., 1972) in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mr. Abbott was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1972. Since then, he has been admitted to the Texas and District of Columbia bars. He has long been a Member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He has practiced, handled, and tried cases in numerous parishes and counties throughout Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Montana.

Mr. Abbott is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association (where he has been an Assistant Examiner, Committee on State Bar Admissions, since 1994), and the American Bar Association (where he is a Member of the Products, General Liability and Consumer Law Committee, The Rail and Motor Carrier Law Committee, and the Toxic and Hazardous Substances and Environmental Law Committee).

He is a Charter Member of the Louisiana Bar Foundation. Additionally, he is a Member (Proctor) of the Maritime Law Association of the United States (in which he is a Member of the International Law of the Sea Committee, the Subcommittee on Offshore Exploration and Development, and the Committee on River and Ocean Towing). Mr. Abbott has been a Member of the Association of Average Adjusters of the United States since 1985. He is also a Member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, The New Orleans Defense Counsel Association, The Defense Research Institute, Inc., The National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, Louisiana Association of Business and Industry and the Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association.

Mr. Abbott has been selected and is a Member of the Outstanding Lawyers of America, a distinction that is restricted to only 100 attorneys in Louisiana.  He was also selected as a Louisiana SuperLawyer in 2008.

Mr. Abbott's primary practice areas involve his role as a Trial Specialist. He focuses on Products Liability Litigation, Environmental Law, Toxic Tort Litigation, Civil Issues, Pharmaceutical Claims, Railroad Defense Litigation, Commercial Disputes, Admiralty Cases, and Class Actions. He is also heavily engaged in non-litigation Corporate and Business Law.

Notably, Mr. Abbott has tried in excess of 157 cases in the States of Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, and Montana. The predominant focus of those trials has been in the areas delineated above.
