JON C. VICKLUND, Senior Counsel at Abbott, Simses & Kuchler, works in the Firm's Houston, Texas office. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas – Austin in 1989, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in both Finance and Marketing. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1994 from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.
Prior to joining the Firm in 1997, Mr. Vicklund practiced Real Estate law and general Business Litigation. Since that time, he has expanded his practice to include Premises and Products Liability, other Personal Injury Torts, Insurance Defense, Commercial and Environmental Litigation. He manages a demanding caseload of complex legal issues and takes pride working with clients and keeping them informed of developments in their cases. His practice is also multi-jurisdictional, taking him across state lines to assist other admitted lawyers in cases throughout the country in such states as Louisiana, California, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Utah.
Mr. Vicklund was admitted to the bar in 1994. He is an active member of the Texas State Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute. He is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts and the United States District Courts for Texas. He is also licensed to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Vicklund served as a judicial intern for Magistrate Judge Marcia A. Crone in 1994. This opportunity afforded him greater insight to the workings of the legal system from the judge's perspective, rather than only the lawyer's perspective, which he has carried over into his practice before many different courts.
Mr. Vicklund was born in Coral Gables, Florida; however, he considers himself a native Houstonian. He presently resides in Houston, Texas, with his wife Krista, and their three daughters, Julianna, Allison, and Kelsey.
